Computer Game Based on MTD(f) Method
Janáček, Matej ; Lukáš, Roman (referee) ; Techet, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis demonstrates pros and cons of MTD(f) method on simple implementation of checkers game. Briefly describes differences between this and other methods used for the best move search in games.
Technical Analysis
Ondrušová, Denisa ; Žídková, Lucie (referee) ; Novotná, Veronika (advisor)
This master‘s thesis is focused on creating an application, which would suggest an optimal portfolio of shares from SPAD Stock Market Praha. The application is based on the CAPM model, which is also described in this paper. There is a calculation of securities characteristics and specific portfolio diversification is suggested. The application also allows a user to simulate investments based on his requirements.
Uranium in historical ceramic glazes: Determination by alpha radiation detection and comparison with other methods
Vopat, Michal ; Goliáš, Viktor (advisor) ; Jelínek, Emil (referee)
In the Czech Republic yellow and ivory glazes with uranium in the Ditmar-Urbach and Terra Teplice companies were manufactured in the pre-war and inter-war period. The production of these glazes took place at the latest since the 1900, the material springs have existed since 1912. Their production ended in 1945. The most suitable method of non-destructive determination of uranium was the measurement of surface alpha activity on planar surfaces by a probe with a ZnS (Ag) scintillator constructed special for this bachelor thesis. Altogether 85 samples, evidence of this production, were measured. To determine the conversion of detected alpha activity to uranium content, an indirect calibration method was chosen to measure uranium content in three types of glazes by WDS analysis. In the studied set, uranium contents ranged from 0.2-2.2 % with the highest frequency ranging from 0.5-0.6 % U. 16 samples of yellow and ivory glazes were without added uranium with contents up to 322 ppm eU. Comparison of uranium contents determined by surface alpha activity measurement with area beta activity confirmed that the glazing does not form a saturated layer for beta radiation. Three types of glazes analyzed by WDS were also measured by XRF. By comparing uranium contents determined by both methods, it was found that...
The effectiveness of binaural beats to induce a relaxation states
VEJBOR, Roman
This bachelor thesis deals with studies of binaural beats, specially their effect on the signal, measured by EEG. The aim of this study was to investigate if binaural beats are an effective tool to induce relaxation states, namely increased brain actvity in the alfa and theta frequencies. The theoretical part describes electrical activity of the brain, the issue of binaural beats and researches related to this issue. Following several chapters are about neuroplasticity as a possible aspect of the effectiveness of binaural beats. Penultimate chapter mentions the question of consciousness and is also linked to altered states of consciousness. Conclusion of the teoretical part is focused on the method of electroencephalography. The practical part is devoted to a research project in which brain activity has been examined in experiment while listening to the two types of audio records. Record of relaxing music and record of relaxing music with binaural beats implemented. Research was attended by a total of thirteen college students of the University of South Bohemia. The sample was selected using the snowball method. Data were processed and analyzed in the program EEGlab and subsequently evaluated using a statistical method ANOVA and paired T -test. To depict results spectral analysis was used.

Population structure and dispersal of butterflies in tropical rain forests of Papua New Guinea
VLAŠÁNEK, Petr
The thesis describes the community composition, population structure and dispersal in a lowland rainforest community, extended to changes in butterfly composition along an altitudinal gradient. It tests the feasibility of mark-release-recapture studies in the understories of lowland primary forests, describes dispersal in relation to host plants and compares dispersal and demographic parameters with temperate species. Focusing on primary as well as secondary sites the thesis analyzes species richness and similarity between sites along an altitudinal gradient. It also tests ecological correlates for endemism in New Guinea butterflies, particularly their geographic and altitudinal range, as well as their optimum altitude.
A Performance Comparison of mutual funds and ETFs available in Czech Republic from the CZK investor's point of view
Kůna, Jakub ; Musílek, Petr (advisor) ; Havlíček, David (referee)
This diploma thesis "A Performance Comparison of in Czech Republic available mutual funds and ETFs from the view of CZK investor" elaborates on collective investing in Czech Republic; focusing on mutual funds and their exchange traded alternatives in ETFs. In the thesis, a history of Czech collective investments' development is briefly mentioned and of ETFs' beginnings in the US, also a legislative framework for the mutual funds in CZ is shortly discussed; furthermore, different approaches to fund classification based on various criteria are provided. An impact of fund fees and expenses is also analysed. A Current situation on the capital market of funds and ETFs and its trends are showed in many graphs and tables. In the second part of the thesis, author introduces not only the basic ones but also the more sophisticated methods of portfolio's or fund's performance measurements, including yields, risks, risk-adjusted yields etc... The third and last chapter aims at application of the previously mentioned methods on a selection of 20 funds and ETFs; therefore building a financial model enabling that. The analysis is viewed as from the CZK investor, thus all calculations are made in CZK.
An abandoned site (A serie of wall paintings in the environs of an urban outskirts)
MALÁK, Martin
In this theoretic-practically focused diploma thesis I deal with the issue of an abandoned site and its potencial for the art creation itself. Firs I attempt to foreshow the modern aspects of the art in relation to the urban outskirts creation. I focus on the distinct graffiti phenomenon an its role within the cultural developement of the modern society. In connection with forementioned I aspire to define the phenomenon of site and space. Furthermore I adress the importance of the outskirts with reference to the environmental psychology. Afterwards I carry through a critical reflexion of the theoretical knowledge fragments and apply new findings while resolving the creative task. In the practical part of this thesis I create triptych of wall paintings in the environs of an urban outskirts on the topic of an abandoned site and consequently I carry out their explication.
